Destiny was released a year ago yesterday, gents. It’s funny to think it’s been that long, but what a ride it’s had. Â
Before it arrived, it was being hyped out the wazzoo. It was hyped and hyped ‘til it could be hyped no more. It hyped and it hyped and it blew our house down. This was, after all, the spiritual successor to Halo. This was goddamn motherfreakin’ Bungie, right here. These guys know their spacetastic shooters.
Sure, those of us who get their kicks from this sort of thing were right in there, blasting lumpen aliens’ scrotes off with futuristic rifles and having a damn good time. Thing was, though, it lost its luster for many players quite quickly, as some of the more pain-in-the-ass grindy mechanics got a little much.

As a bonus for the devs, they packaged this in with some cash-grabby DLC, which they always love to do. With Destiny’s The Taken King expansion, the game became a thing again.
So now it’s time to dial things up to eleven with another expansion. Rise of Iron is the next content pack, arriving September 20. Which means, natch, that it’s launch trailer time. So feast your ogling eyes on this:
