Things are about to get real in the Pussy Riot case. We've been following the odyssey of three young -strangely hot- Russian girls that were thrown in jail earlier this year for donning masks and singing a terrible song about Vladimir Putin in a cathedral. Tomorrow, the court is handing down the verdict in which the girls could be sent prison for 3 years. Supporters of the group and bad masked feminist punk rock are planning on holding mass rallies in 40 cities worldwide. There are going to literally be pussy riots.

It both frightens and delights me that something as patently absurd as Pussy Riot has led to an international incident. It scares me because the Russian government is acting like thugs and the potential for violence is so real that the judge, Marina Syorva, is under 24 police custody because of death threats. It makes me very happy because the equivalent me putting on a Mexican wrestler mask and singing an anti-Obama song in a Starbucks to the tune of Baby Got Back is what started this. And it gets even more weird. The male mayor of Reykjavik, Iceland rode a float in a gay pride parade wearing a dress and Pussy Riot mask. Members of the German congress, Amnesty international, and representative of the undead, Madonna, have all come down hard on Putin. Yesterday, I heard legendary serious journalist Christiane Amanpour say the words Pussy Riot on TV 5 times. The world has officially gone off the deep end.
