Update (11:30am) - It appears the 49ers have emerged as a darkhorse in the race, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen

Peyton Manning is still trying to decide where he's going to take his talents, but it's apparently not going to be South Beach. Manning has reportedly told the Miami Dolphins they're out of the sweepstakes, but the Broncos are still in. ESPN says Denver team officials are going to watch Manning work out today in North Carolina.

If a team is going to invest a boatload of money in a 36-year-old guy coming off four surgeries to fuse his neck, I would hope they would want to see if he can throw the ball like he used to. I just hope this thing comes to an end soon.

Obviously we're not heading down the LeBron James route here; Peyton isn't going to have an hour long special to utter a three second answer on where he's going to play. That's not his style. The two teams that are still in the running for Peyton's services, Denver and Tennessee, want to know sooner than later if they get him or not so they can start filling in the other pieces of their roster.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Denver watches him throw today and then hands him the contract to sign immediately afterwards, the same way the 49ers did with Randy Moss. Manning has never seemed to be the kind of guy to drag things on, so maybe we'll have an answer by the end of the day today.
