Geordi La Forge was the scrappy young Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Reading Rainbow-sage Levar Burton played him with classy aplomb.

But if Gene Roddenberry's crew had their way, it looks like when he wasn't on the engineering deck trying to squeeze a few more ounces of power from the warp core, he was on another set filming a Soul Glo commercial.
