TV & FILM

Arguably the most critically and commercially successful director of his generation, Christopher Nolan has put together a run of films that most filmmakers would kill for. He's able to take complex scenarios and make them digestible for a general audience, and his Dark Knight trilogy helped elevate the comic book movie to an art form.
But he's not without his issues, and this new Honest Trailer focuses in on the fact that his films have a lot of similarities like intricate structures, non-linear storytelling, practical effects galore, and endings that are debated for years.
Then there's the stuff we may have noticed subconsciously before, like the fact that most of his protagonists have identical hair and fashion sense to the director. Not to mention their list of "nevers" and tragic pasts that usually involve a dead wife.
It's kind of interesting and funny all at the same time, as there are many similarities between many of his films, but that's nothing new for fastidious directors like Nolan. While there's a lot of fun stuff in here, there's also an appropriate amount of reverence for just how incredible this dude's filmography has been.
So next week they'll be back to making fun of whatever blockbuster's coming out on DVD, so enjoy this rare diversion for Honest Trailers. You might just learn something!
