Don’t Make Hulk Litigious. You Won’t Like Him When He’s Litigious

It is illegal in the state of Florida to film someone without their knowledge. Why it's not illegal in the Florida to film the trashy family of a former pro-wrestler, stick the footage on a basic cable reality show and force them into mainstream pop culture, I have no idea. But that's just the way it is. And that is why Hulk Hogan, luminary star of such films as Suburban Commando, No Holds Barred, and of course Mr. Nanny, is suing Florida D.J. Bubba the Love Sponge, his ex-wife and Gawker for $100 million after a sex tape (which Hogan claims he had no knowledge about) was published on the site.

Now I'm not saying that the lawsuit against Gawker is unfounded because the Hulkster released the tape himself to get his name back out there (pssst...I'm saying the the lawsuit is unfounded because the Hulkster released the tape himself to get his name back out there), but there needs to be some reasonable expectation that when you're famous for shilling your image out by letting cameras follow you around 24/7 in order to find embarrassing footage of you to air nationwide, you shouldn't be surprised that a lens was focused on you when you engaged in wife swapping with your best-friend's busty bride. While it's still in question who actually leaked the tape to the site and whether Hogan had prior knowledge of its existence, Hogan and his lawyers claim that the video caused 'severe and irreparable injury which cannot be adequately compensated by monetary damages.' Unless the monetary damages are $100 apparently. But hey, anyone who has ever seen Hulk's movies, his TV shows or his atrocious local commercials airing in Southern California now damn well that there's no one and no sex tape can more cause severe and irreparable injury to his image any more than the Hulkster can on his own.

Don't believe me? Then just watch this:
