Terry Gilliam Is Still Fighting Windmills with ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’

Terry Gilliam's many failed attempts to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote are well known, so much so that a 2002 documentary, Lost in La Mancha, chronicled the subject. But it seems the director still hasn't given up hope, and will soon attempt the project for the seventh time.



"I'm going to try to do 'Don Quixote' again," Gilliam said. "I think this is the seventh time. Lucky seven, maybe. We'll see if it happens. This is kind of my default position, going back to that. I actually just want to make it and get rid of it. Get it out of my life."



Through the years, various stars have been attached to the project, including Johnny Depp, Robert Duvall, and Ewan McGregor. But according to Coming Soon, no actors are currently known to have signed on. But whoever does eventually agree to take part in the film will certainly have their work cut out for them, a point even Gilliam conceeds.



"The dangerous thing is that a lot of people are waiting for it," Gilliam said. "So I can disappoint a lot of people, maybe."
