When a Car Barrels Through Your Apartment While You’re Playing ‘Fallout 4’

The media, you've probably noticed, hates video games with the fiery passion of a billion suns. Remember when the 3DS was first released, and newspapers were saying the 3D effect would melt your eyeballs and make them leak bloody soggy mess down your face? Or back in the 90s when Doom was pure, unadulterated evil?

For eff's sake, don't let the press get ahold of this new headline: Fallout 4 Causes Nutbag to Drive Right Through The Wall of Someone's Goddamn House.

Texas gamer Ben Rose was minding his own business and getting his Fallout 4 on –like much of the world right about now—when a Hyundai Sonata ploughed through his apartment wall. You won't be surprised to hear that the driver was uninsured, or that Ben was pretty darn beaten up by the whole thing. He got off lightly, considering, suffering a fractured vertebrae and sliced Achilles tendon, and he's fairly chipper about it all.

‘You play in a wasteland and then your apartment becomes a wasteland,' he said to CBSDFW, showing that his irony bone is very much undamaged. Rose went on to attribute his survival to the fact that he's a gamer, thanking his badass lazy-gamer-dude chair:

‘Cars versus people don't really end up well. So I really thought it was over… the chair is what saved me, without a doubt. That took the impact. It pushed me out of the way. It kept me from going under the car.'

The report goes on to say that police believe the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes when leaving the apartment complex. But if there's one positive thing we can take from this, it's that gaming saves lives.
