The New ‘Doom’ Arcade Mode Is All The Goretastic Gaming Goodness You’ll Need This Weekend

As Egotastic’s resident Brit, I can tell you that the original Doom was –as we say here in Merry Old England—the dog’s bollocks. If it isn’t clear, that’s a damn good thing. The simple, brutal and influential shooter is one of the most iconic games of all time, and a lil’ slice of pop culture so many of us still have such a boner for.

As such, the recent reboot had big shoes to fill. Huge, effing ridiculous clown shoes. By and large, it delivered, bringing ultra-goretastic melee finishers, a pounding soundtrack and that classic Doom demon-bustin’ action into the brave new world of 2016.

There are a couple issues with the title, sure, but the devs haven’t been sat on their asses making butt-grooves in their couches since release. Doom’s fourth free update is here, and it’s dropping something pretty damn special to bolster the single player goodness already on offer.

Along with all kinds of extra whatsits and doohickeys for SnapMap, the arcade mode we all wanted has arrived. Here, you customize your Praetor suit to your liking, before being let loose on a level with all weapons, runes and gear unlocked. It’s a score attack take on the general shitstorm that is Doom, and fans are sure to dig it.
