So, the hardest I've ever heard my dad laugh reminds me of the Dudley Moore vehicle Crazy People released in the spring of 1990. I didn't think it would be a hard sell for my dad to go see a Dudley Moore movie. My dad had been a fan since 10 & Arthur. Plus, I sweetened the deal by mentioning that local North Jersey legend "Uncle" Floyd Vivino was also in the cast. Needless to say, there was no way we were missing this one.

Only, dad didn't want to see Crazy People. Dad wanted to see The Gods Must Be Crazy II. I'm not paying for the ticket, so I can't really object. Now, I laughed through The Gods Must Be Crazy, I was a kid. I had terrible taste. But I didn't want to see a sequel. I didn't feel a want or desire to see the further adventures of the clucking guy, but there we were, and there I was wishing we had gone to see Crazy People instead.

Until the lead character, a discount Tom Selleck if there ever was one, steps on a honey badger and this thing wants to straight murder this guy. It goes on a rampage that lasts several minutes, in which my father was doubled over with laughter. It became funny to me by proxy, but watching it now, I don't get it.

Thankfully mom took me to see Crazy People the following weekend. Now that was some funny shit.
