Will Penelope Cruz Be the Next Bond Girl? ‘Sources’ Say Yes

Yep. It has been reported by sources, so you know it’s the absolute truth: Penelope Cruz will be the next Bond girl.

What does that even mean? You’re all, ‘But they don’t officially have a director yet!’ Yeah, even though everyone and their celebrity-focused grandma is sure that it will be Sam Mendes, nothing is official. So how is it that Cruz is even in the mix?  Well, Yahoo News UK is reporting that the 40 year old actress is going over her Bond 24 papers right now. A ‘source’ ‘close to the production’ ‘said’:

The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now.

If those sources are telling the truth, that would make Cruz the oldest Bond MILF ever. Given all we’ve (literally) seen of the Spanish actress, we have absolutely no problem with this, she is among the most MILFtastic of them all.

Sam Mendes is Probably Going to Direct ‘Bond 24′

Well that was a harrowing couples of days of studio-rumor-wank. For a few days, we thought that Christopher Nolan was going to bring all his Dark Night-y goodness to the Bond franchise. We were having some great daydreams about Nolan’s muse Anne Hathaway getting back in a spandex jumpsuit.

Then, a few days later, Variety threw a crazy shortlist out there. It included some fanboy wet dreams like Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, anyone?) and some in-the-now choices like Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Tom Hooper (Les Misérables), and David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). That gave us several hours to think about how ridiculously amazing Shane Black’s Bond would be. Seriously, think about it for a second. Amazing, right?

And now Deadline is reporting that Sony and MGM are all, “Hey Sam Mendes, y’think you can come back and print us more Skyfall-like dollar bills?” And reportedly, he’s taking their calls.

So there it is: Mendes will probably direct the next Bond and we can all go back to pondering more important things like Anne Hathaway in spandex.

The Only Movie Re-Releases To Actually Care About

It seems like originality is well and truly dead in cinema. Either we’re watching a superhero movie that revolves around a character we’ve spent 60 years reading about or a not so subtle rehash of a bona-fide classic or a sequel or the fifth installment of a franchise we stopped caring about after the third movie.

But don’t worry, 3D is here to save the day and revamp our favourite movies to the point that they come out of the screen and we can practically get slapped by our favourite characters.

Over the next few weeks, months and years there are plenty of classic cinematic treats for us to get very excited over. Whether you’re a nerd, child or adult, it doesn’t matter there’s a whole hoard of films to choose from. Here are some movie re-releases that are set to be on our screens, again.

How Will Sacha Baron Cohen’s James Bond Spoof Compare To These Other 007 Rip-Offs

Sacha Baron Cohen has become one of the most popular comedians in the world with his brand of mockumentary ridicule to unsuspecting souls. Some find it cruel others find it hilarious, it’s probably somewhere in the middle. But it seems like SBC is setting his sights on a new target in the form of James Bond as he teams up with the boringly named Phil Johnston who wrote the 2011 comedy Cedar Rapids.

Apparently their tale will revolve around a secret agent who is forced to go on the run with his football hooligan brother but it isn’t the first time that 007 has been pastiched before, with Hollywood often spoofing the English spy.

Here’s a list of cinematic homages to the world’s deadliest spy.

50 Years of Bond: New Infographic Highlights the Girls of Bond

Every guy aspires to be James Bond. Maybe not in terms of profession, but in the aspect of how he always manages to charm the pants off of every woman he meets. Daniel Craig is the latest actor to take on the role of 007 in Skyfall, which will hit theaters on November 9th.

Until then, take a stroll down memory lane and enjoy this infographic that CableTV has put together of all the girls of Bond since 1962′s Dr. No to this year’s Skyfall to commemorate fifty years of Bond.

Bond Girl Naomie Harris Talks About What She Does and Doesn’t Reveal on ‘Skyfall’

Given their track record, you’d think that the directors of every Bond movie would sneak in at least one scene that would have each Bond girl bare it all. That isn’t the case for Skyfall though, because new Bond Girl Naomie Harris has just admitted that she won’t be stripping down naked in the movie.

However, what Harris does reveal is a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to be a Bond girl and how her field agent, Eve, deals with the masterful James Bond.

Daniel Craig Discusses ‘Skyfall’

Bond, James Bond.

Those of you who aren’t excited by the return of a certain 007 British agent should probably recognise that the medium of cinema is not for them. But looking at the recent box office receipts for both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace there are not too many people who aren’t compelled by James’ actions and they are probably waiting with baited breathe for any small piece of detail regarding new movie entitled Skyfall.

Bond’s 23rd outing is due to be released on 26th October with the specific details of the film being kept secret so fiercely that even Jimmy B himself would be impressed.

But the team behind Skyfall have taken leave of their senses and decided to release a few inklings of information regarding the latest instalment to the franchise. And even though it’s not much, it’s enough to make you contemplate hibernation so that October can roll on that little bit quicker.
