As far as history is concerned, the No 8 seed beat the No 1 seed; something that does not happen very often at all. In reality, the Philadelphia 76ers barely managed to beat a severely depleted Bulls team.

The Chicago Bulls were supposed to be championship contenders this season. They were supposed to be in the road to their first title since the Jordan days. Even with the injuries that kept Derrick Rose out for chunks of the season the Bulls were still able to earn the best record in the league.

NBA Playoffs Roundup – Three Teams Survive, Magic Eliminated

It was a pretty full schedule in the NBA Playoffs last night, and all four games had the potential to be series enders. Only one team couldn't stay alive, as the Orlando Magic's tumultuous season mercifully came to an end.

Indiana 105 - Orlando 87

After a surprising win in game one, Orlando managed to lose the next four and see their ugly season finally come to an end. Indiana, led by Danny Granger with 25 points, won their first playoff series since 2005. Orlando, who had a roller coaster ride of a season, probably couldn't have won this series even with injured center Dwight Howard, who was out after back surgery. Indiana now waits for Miami to finish off New York. 3 More Game Recaps »

Hits Keep Coming for the Chicago Bulls (VIDEO)

Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls injures ankle

Sometimes when the hits start coming they just don't stop. If it wasn't bad enough that the Chicago Bulls are forced to go the duration of the post season without arguably one of the best players in the NBA, Derrick Rose, now they may lose yet another top player--Joakim Noah.

Noah was driving down the lane on a fast break and appears to step on the foot of one of the 76ers and it turns in a direction that the human ankle is not meant to turn. The Bulls had a 45-42 lead at the time of the injury, but ended up losing 79-74 after the 76ers outscored the Bulls 28-14 in the final period.

Without him the Bulls will have to lean on Carlos Boozer pretty heavily to get the job done, but it will really be an uphill battle for the Bulls should they lose Noah as well. After seeing that ankle go in ways it shouldn't I'd be shocked to see him play again this season.

Oh and if you are wondering where the polecat is that someone is stepping on after Noah goes down there isn't one there. That sound is coming from Noah.

Bulls Lose Derrick Rose for the Playoffs (VIDEO)

The road to the NBA Finals just got a little bit tougher for the Chicago Bulls. Late in Saturday's opening round victory over the Philadelphia 76ers they lost all-star guard and last season's MVP Derrick Rose to an ACL injury.

There was no contact on the play. Rose went up and when he came down he was clearly hurt. Reports later confirmed that he had indeed torn the ACL in his left knee. What makes this injury even worse is that not only impact their championship hopes this season, but will impact next season as well since typical ACL recovery time is anywhere from 8-12 months.

Rose did miss significant time this season and the Bulls still earned the best record in the NBA this season, but when it comes to playoff time losing someone of Rose's caliber will definitely impact the team. At least they won Game One, 103-91.

NBA Playoff Race is Really Heating Up

Just think folks; back in November it didn't look like there was a chance that the NBA was going to play the 2011-12 season. Here it is early April, there are roughly 10-12 games left for most teams and the playoff race could not be much closer!

The top teams in both conferences have remained relatively the same for the majority of the season. The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat have been battling it out for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. In the Western Conference the Oklahoma City Thunder have been leading the pack pretty much all season, but thanks to a three-game losing streak to start the month of April they’ve lost the top spot to the streaking San Antonio Spurs.
