Lakers in for a Rough Off-Season

The season came to a rather disappointing end for the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night as a team that is accustomed to challenging for supremacy in the conference (let alone the league) was ushered out of the championship race by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After a tumultuous season that saw the team undergo a number of changes, the Lakers were thoroughly outplayed by the young, up-and-coming Oklahoma City Thunder team it would not be shocking to see a different team take the court next season.

Andrew Bynum is a Shot-Blocking Machine! (VIDEO)

Andrew Bynum of the Lakers making his 10th block of the night

Andrew Bynum may be a large man-child that acts like a real idiot at times, but sometimes he's a man on a mission. Sunday that mission was clear--block as many shots as possible. I think its safe to say that mission was completed.

Bynum entered into rare territory when he rejected shot No 10 in the fourth period against the Denver Nuggets. With that block he tied the record for most blocked shots in a single post season game held by Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon and Mark Eaton. He also broke the team record previously held by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabaar.

To make the night even better for Bynum and the Lakers, he also had 10 points and 13 rebounds to record the first triple-double in post season play for the Lakers since Magic Johnson did it back in the 1991 Finals.

Oh, and in case anyone cares, the Lakers defeated the Nuggets 103-88.

Lakers on Hot Streak Under Coach Kobe Bryant

Okay, that's kind of a joke, but I'm sure it's not far from the truth. In fact, Ramon Sessions said as much after the Lakers win over Dallas yesterday.

That's Coach Bryant now, he's over there drawing stuff up on the board. He's pulling us over to the side and helping us out tremendously.

There you go. Kobe has missed the last five games with a shin injury, and the Lakers have won the last four with Coach Byrant helping out head coach Mike Brown. It raises the question, are the Lakers better without Kobe? Read More » »

Andrew Bynum is a Beast! (VIDEO)

Andrew Bynum is a man-child of a beast. What else do you call a guy that pulls down 30 rebounds in a single game (like a man) and then tarnishes the accomplishment by cursing on live television (like a child)?

Wednesday night the man-child that is Andrew Bynum gave fans everything that they wanted to see against the San Antonio Spurs. The man was a rebounding machine! The last time that a player pulled down 30 or more boards was when Kevin Love accomplished it in 2010 (when he had 31 in a game). You have to go back another decade to find the guy before that.

Is Success is Going to Andrew Bynum’s Head?

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum is having a breakout year. Kobe Bryant is passing him the ball in clutch situations and he's delivering. Bynum's stats are up in every category; he's averaging 18.2 points and 12.2 rebounds, way ahead of his career averages of 11.4 points and 7.7 rebounds, and he's stayed healthy.

That doesn't explain why the 7-footer chucked up an ill advised three during the the Lakers' win over Golden State. Coach Mike Brown didn't like it and benched the big man for most of the rest of the game. Bynum was unfazed, joking around with teammates and mugging for the TV cameras. Read More » »
