Quentin Tarantino to Direct Movie About the Manson Family Murders?

So here's a pretty strange story... Quentin Tarantino, a man known for his original scripts that play around in a variety of well-worn genres and classic filmmaking tropes, is set to take on his first story based on true events. The true events in this case being the notorious Tate/LaBianca murders perpetrated by members of a cult run by Charles Manson in the late summer of 1969.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino has been meeting with a number of A-list stars like his Inglourious Basterds star Brad Pitt as well as Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie—the latter of whom is thought to be Tarantino's front-runner for the role of Sharon Tate. Tarantino will once again be teaming with Harvey Weinstein, who has produced every one of the director's films to date, with an eye toward shooting the film in the summer of 2018. 

The whole thing sounds like it's in the very early stages of becoming a reality, but it will be interesting to see how a filmmaker that's not generally renowned for his cultural sensitivity will handle a subject that still haunts Hollywood some fifty years after it happened. Whatever it turns out to be, it's guaranteed to be worth checking out if and when it gets released. We'll keep you up to date with the latest info as it becomes available.
