Promo images help impatient viewers go insane with theories over where their favourite TV shows and movies might be heading.

Alas news that the first image of David Morrissey's The Governor from AMC's The Walking Dead has been released alongside the first promo image for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel should send ravenous nerds hurtling towards their computers to discuss each and every pixel!

Maybe not, but they are pretty snazzy.

Check out below the drop for these pictures and with The Walking Dead not set to return to our screens until October and Man of Steel due sometime next year, you have plenty of time to come up with a host of guesses about where each of them might be heading. All of which will definitely be wrong.

The comic's creator and series executive producer

Robert Kirkman

discussed the plans for The Governor recently with

TV Guide

noting that  "The Governor in the show is definitely going to be The Governor in the comic. I think that he's definitely going to be a character that people love to hate and are absolutely entertained by, but also somewhat terrified of. He's definitely going to be a very important character and a very nuanced character. We are not going to be watering him down."

Encouraging words, just don't let him turn out to be a combination of bat-shit crazy and annoyingly bitchy like Shane was and we'll all be happy.

Here's your Man of Steel promo.

Very Steely. Man of Steel will open on June 14th, 2013 and with The Dark Knight Rises duo Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer involved expect it to be pretty damn special.
