‘Prometheus’ Sequel Already On The Way

Some people loved Ridley Scott's return to the Alien franchise. Others, were nonplussed, with the film being met by a mixed-to-positive reception by audiences and critics alike.

But it seems like Scott is a man with a plan and is going to continue to mine this world for further tales as he is already discussing a Prometheus sequel.

Which might come as a relief to some viewers who were left with a whole host of unanswered questions regarding the film. Scott had already revealed that he wanted to return to Prometheus for a sequel to the prequel and throughout interviews and promos for the movie, Damon Lindelof, the film's scribe and the Blade Runner director talked about the script's transition.

All will be revealed below the drop but expect to see plenty of spoilers so do take heed of this warning if you havn't seen the movie yet!

Lost creator, Lindelof was brought in rather late on Prometheus and suggested that the script should examine it's themes and Alien's mythology rather than exploring, in too much depth, it's prequel elements, saving these instead for another film.

Scott has stated to The Hollywood Reporter that "From the very beginning, I was working from a premise that lent itself to a sequel. I really don't want to meet God in the first one. I want to leave it open to Shaw saying, 'I don't want to go back to where I came from. I want to go where they came from."

But it seems like Scott, Lindelof and everyone else involved in Prometheus are far from finished with the project and are closer to making the sequel than you might think with a potential title even being banded about.

Originally, the prequel was set to be titled Paradise, before they settled on naming it after the Greek god, but it now seems like they will return to this moniker if they end up making a new film and that it will refer to the home planet of humanity's makers.

A Prometheus sequel would need to look at a number of things, including why Earth was targeted to be destroyed by the Engineers and a genuine exploration of these creatures themselves. And with Noomi Rapace's Dr. Shaw and Michael Fassbender's David being the only two characters remaining from the ship it seems like they have some pretty hefty responsibility on their shoulders.
