I don’t think video games’ boner for zombies is ever going away. For a fair few years now, the rotting bastards have been everywhere. We’ve desperately avoided them in survival games, we’ve mowed them down by the millions in arcade shooters… it’s an endless, on-going war. They eat our faces; we shoot them in theirs.

With the likes of The Walking Dead helping them along, these guys are as popular as pirates, ninjas and ninja-pirates. Even the biggest, blockbuster-iest games want a slice of the action. How big has Zombies become in Call of Duty? Pretty freaking big, that’s how big.

But that’s just a sidestory. Our festering friends have starring roles in games, too, like 2011’s Dead Island. This one saw a plague hit a small vacation island near Papua New Guinea, which turned the infected into… well, you know how this stuff works. The undead being as popular as they are, this one was pretty big, and there’s a sequel on the way later this year.

Before that, though, we’ve got to squeeze every last drip of cashtacular out of the original and its expansion, Riptide. You know what that means, after a couple years: It’s current-gen remaster time. Feast your eyes on the latest trailer for the Dead Island Definitive Collection.

It’s violent, blood-leaky and piss-takey, just the way we like it. The collection hits PS4 and Xbox One on May 31.
