It would be an understatement to say that all of DC's future movie prospects now rest squarely on the shoulders of this November's Justice League. Following the stumbling and bumbling BvS and Suicide Squad in 2016, the DCEU got its first substantial critical and commercial success with this summer's Wonder Woman. It's safe to say that Justice League will either build on that goodwill or bring the whole thing crashing back down.

The film's villain, Steppenwolf, has been something of a gigantic question mark looming in most fans' minds as he was never really that much of a threat in the comics. Apparently he took on a much more threatening role in the Injustice video game, but most comic readers were a little baffled by his being selected as the big bad for the League's first team-up. This new trailer and images of the toys—courtesy of Entertainment Weekly—give us a better look at the antagonist, and they're not doing much to assuage my reservations about this decision.

Yeah, I'm not sold, and I know it's just a toy and I shouldn't bet the farm on what the toy looks like, but this just seems like they don't want to break out the big guns just yet because they're planning to use Darkseid in a future sequel. I really would love to be proven wrong on this, and the fact that cinematic badass Ciaran Hinds is bringing him to life is somewhat comforting, but I just don't get it.

What do you guys think? Are you sold on Steppenwolf as the villain? Let us know in the comments section below. We'll all find out whether or not this is a good idea when Justice League opens on November 17.
