Detroit Lions Keep Megatron with Mega Millions

Holy crap, 132 million dollars is a lot of money. That's what all-everything wide receiver Calvin 'Megatron' Johnson just got from the Lions, with $60 million guaranteed. The deal is for seven years, and it makes the Lions legit contenders for the foreseeable future, like, around seven years.

Johnson led the league in receiving yards last season with 1,681, while QB Matthew Stafford threw for 5,038 yards with 41 TDs. Now with Megatron locked up until 2019, Lions fans finally have a reason to be optimistic at the beginning of the year, provided Stafford can stay healthy again.

Johnson followed up his All-Pro year by hauling in 211 receiving yards against the Saints in the playoffs, setting the mark for a player in his first postseason game. 

It was only four years ago that the Lions became the first NFL team to ever go 0-16, so for them to now be considered a force is a quick turnaround. The star players all seem to be committed to the team's future, as Stafford, Ndamnukong Suh and Nate Burleson restructured their contracts to clear up more cap room.

It might seem weird, but we're all going to have start getting used to the Lions being favorites.
