Peter Jackson Gives The Third ‘Hobbit’ Movie A New Name

What's in a name? That depends on who you ask.

Ask Shakespeare, for example, and he would names aren't that important and give you some spiel about smelling roses.

Ask Peter Jackson, on the other hand, and he would say names are important. Or at least I think that's what he would say. Otherwise why would he have bothered changing the name of the third Hobbit film from The Hobbit: There and Back Again to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies?

Jackson made the change official earlier today via Facebook...because he needed a lot more than the 140 characters you get on Twitter. Take a look:

In case you lost interest in Jackson's announcement at "Our journey," here's the explanation for the change in a nutshell: There and Back Again didn't make sense for the third film because Bilbo already got "there" in Desolation of Smaug. So they changed the name to Battle of the Five Armies, which is great because that name sounds more badass anyway.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theaters December 17, 2014.
