There’s A Special Edition of the ‘Battlefield 1’ Special Edition That Actually Includes The Game

As the seasoned gamers among you have no doubt noticed, this whole ‘special edition’ thing is starting to get out of hand. We’re seeing complete batshit like the $10 million Dying Light special edition, which also got you a role in the upcoming movie. Then there was the much less extravagant Saints Row IV Dangerous Wad Wad Edition, which cost a meager $1 million.

But it’s not just about the cashtacular involved. These guys love to compete over the contents of the package. They can sucker in the best of us, too, with fancy-ass presentation and such. I’m currently ogling the Bloodborne: Nightmare Edition, just because of how sweet it looks. Do I need a calligraphy quill set, complete with blood vial-looking bottle of ink? I don’t, and the game’s been out for over a year, but I totally want it.

That’s the thing though. Sometimes, these guys are so desperate to dazzle us with their fancy steelbooks, figures, soundtrack CDs and other extra BS that they forget what’s important: the game itself. That’s kinda what it’s all about, after all, when you… buy a game.

But it looks like Battlefield 1 didn’t get that memo. This is one of those rare cases where the actual game isn’t included in the collector’s edition. Check out this new Amazon listing, for a $130 collection including 14 inch statue, exclusive DLC content in a messenger pigeon tube, playing cards, cloth patches, steelbook… most of the usual gubbins. Catch is, if you actually want something to put in that damn steelbook, you’ll have to pay for the separate $190 version of the package that includes Battlefield 1 itself.

Seriously, promo guys, is this really a thing?
