Conor McGregor Hits ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ (Pretty Damn Hard, Natch)

  Call of Duty, as we all know, is big freaking business these days. It’s not just a video game, it’s all full-on, balls out, pop culture phenomenon.  

And you know who likes that sort of thing? Celebrities, that’s who. They thrive on this shit. Without fame, attention and all of that good stuff, they wither away and die. Remember when Nancy turned her back on Freddy at the end of the original Nightmare on Elm Street? The poor guy melted away into nothing. And so would Kanye West if he didn’t get his daily dose of limelight.

That explains why you see all the has-beens hawking terrible products on the shopping channel, or suddenly releasing some awful new single or something. It’s also why so many of these guys attach themselves to the almighty COD.

The series has had live-action trailers and commercials featuring big names. It’s had a character voiced by Marshawn Lynch (also becoming the first athlete to have his likeness used in the games). Now they’re namedropping someone else: Conor McGregor.

The Irish fighter is set to appear in Infinite Warfare, looking every inch the bearded badass fans expect. He posted the above image of how his character will look on Instagram, with the caption ‘when the biggest need the baddest to do work, I answer the call.’

It’ll be interesting to see what bearing this guy has on the game’s story. Whatever the case, though, this is the right move. After all, Infinite Warfare’s pretty damn Notorious itself, among those of us tiring of this futuristic shooter business.
