Jeremy Renner is fast turning into one of Hollywood's hottest pieces of property. Since being propelled into the mainstream with his starring role in 2008's Academy Award winning, The Hurt Locker he has been involved in the Mission Impossible and The Avengers franchise's and is now set to be the star in The Bourne Legacy.

With Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon leaving the series, Renner will take the lead role with director Tony Gilroy set to helm the project and the Michael Clayton filmaker has been talking about the upcoming release.

"To make it live, we had to go wider and have a wider perspective. I guess it's well known now it's a much wider story and a much wider horizon, and that has a whole bunch of different demands."

Gilroy continued, "A part of the fun is playing on the lore of stuff that happened before. You have to make a movie people can see for the first time and not know what happened before, but you also want to pay back people who have been paying attention along the way." Good points well made by T.G.

He even revealed some of the differences between Damon's Bourne and Renner's Aaron Cross, noting that they are from "Cousin programs, different skill sets, and different attitudes. Both have a need, a different need. That was the only reason I would jump on this, otherwise you're just knitting together an action movie, and that's no that big a deal."

And he also stated that Cross won't have amnesia and that "He knows exactly who he is, but he has a big problem. This character has another problem, one that is hopefully just as fundamental and mythic."

The Bourne Legacy will be in cinema's around the US on August 3rd 2012.
