Ever since season three of Game of Thrones ended, my Sunday nights seem empty. At 9:00 PM, I feel as if I have to drop everything and watch HBO, even though I know I'll find only True Blood. It's like an amputee who suffers with the sensation of a phantom limb, only a thousand times worse.

Because of my withdrawal symptoms, I end up scouring the Internet in search of Game of Thrones rumors. And this morning I may have found a big one. Of course when I say 'I,' I mean the fine fellows at Nerd Bastards and io9.

When asked about character arcs in a recent interview, author George R. R. Martin may have given away a major spoiler. Even more surprising, it involves someone living instead of dying! Obvious spoiler alert for those who are not caught up on the books.

Some major characters — yes, I always had plans, what Tyrion's arc was gonna be through this, what Arya's arc was gonna be through this, what Jon Snow's arc is gonna be.

Note Martin's use of the future tense when discussing Jon Snow. For those of us who have read the books, Jon Snow's fate was left very much in doubt at the end of The Winds of Winter. Is this a slip of the tongue by Martin implying that Snow will survive the assassination attempt, or are losers like me grasping at straws because we're bored? Either way, it beats watching True Blood.
