Carrie Fisher will be reprising her role as princess Leia in the upcoming Star Wars trilogy. While speaking in an interview with the prestigious Palm Beach Illustrated, she was asked if she was coming back as the scoundrel-loving princess and she said a definitive yes. When asked what she thought Leia would be like now she said, 'Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.' Which brings us to something I must discuss with my fellow Star Wars fans: This is not the Leia we were looking for. (Waves hand).

Or rather, it's not the one we grew up with. When we last saw Carrie in this role she was 27 years-old and smoking hot. Many of us first realized that we were heterosexual when we saw her in the gold bikini. But she's 57 now and looks a little...rough. Years of drug and alcohol abuse and bouts with serious mental illness have taken their toll. Just recently she had to be hospitalized after having a mental breakdown on a cruise ship. It will be interesting to see what the insane long hours and pressure that comes from making a movie this huge will do to her. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited she's on board and look forward to what she will do with the older, wiser Leia. I just miss the gold bikini wearing princess of my youth. But, then again, she probably does as well.
