In case you haven't heard, that Lio Messi guy has got game.

The 24 year-old Barcelona star from Argentina is already recognized as one of the best players in the game today. On Wednesday he helped further cement his place in history when he broke the single season scoring record previously held by Gerd Muller.

Muller, who played for Bayern Munich, has held the record since the 1972-73 season with 67 goals. With a hat trick against Malaga Wednesday Messi set the new mark with 68 this season (2011-12).

Some purists might balk at Messi's record since he played a few more games than Muller did, but at 24 the chances are pretty good Messi will shatter his own record before he is done playing.
