Eva Longoria got Engaged

In case you were wondering, though I'm sure you weren't, Eva Longoria is now engaged to her basketball-playing boyfriend, Tony Parker. According to People the couple who last I knew had split up, are now destined for a lovely 7 to 22 months of wedded celebrity bliss.

"Eva and Tony are officially engaged," Longoria's rep, Liza Anderson, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "The couple have never been happier."




Parker, a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs, flew into Los Angeles after his game on Wednesday night and surprised Longoria at her home as she got off work, according to the actress's rep, who added: "The proposal was romantic and perfect."




The couple plans to wed in France next summer in what they describe as a "big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends."




Longoria told PEOPLE in April she is happiest when in a relationship - and said she expects to stay with Parker "forever."

Now, for those of you who aren't fluent in the particular style of Crazy-Talk they speak in Hollywood, "forever" actually has several meanings. 1) "Until something better comes along." 2) "Until my publicist says a break up scandal will be good for my career." 3) "Until I make it past the specified date in the Pre-nup." 4) "Until I have a new movie coming out." (similar to #2) 5) "Until it's okay to come out of the closet."

As you can see, it's not easy to know exactly what "forever" means, but it rarely, if ever, means forever.
