Bryan Singer, director of the most X-Men movies in history, has been under fire in the past for things that are incredibly similar to those currently toppling some of the most powerful men in the entertainment industry. Therefore, many of us suspected that it was only a matter of time before the stories caught back up to Singer and brought him down like his pal Kevin Spacey—seriously, how much creepier is their relationship knowing that they're both alleged sexual predators?

Putting all of that aside, however, Singer has indeed been fired by 20th Century Fox from his job helming the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody—terrible title, by the way. There's like a dozen other Queen songs that would have made better titles like "Somebody to Love," "The Show Must Go On," or even "Who Wants to Live Forever?"—but not for the reasons we all expected. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has fired Singer for creating an atmosphere of chaos on the set, disappearing for days at a time, and battling with star Rami Malek. To put it another way, John Landis dropped a helicopter on a Hollywood legend and two small Asian children and didn't get fired from The Twilight Zone Movie. You've gotta wonder what Singer did here.

For his part, Singer claims this is all Fox's fault for not letting him tend to an unidentified "gravely ill loved one."

I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen," he said in a statement, "but Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.

Singer also says that the rumors of him and Malek clashing on set were overblown...

Rumors that my unexpected departure from the film was sparked by a dispute I had with Rami Malek are not true.  While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving.

I dunno, were I Bryan Singer, I'd be happy to get fired from a movie for clashing with the star rather than, say, fingering underaged people in a hot tub. Allegedly. Time will tell if Singer ever gets in any substantial trouble for his notorious behavior. So long as they keep allowing him to crank out decently entertaining films, the harder it's gonna be to sweep everything under the rug. Thankfully Fox decided not to buy a bigger rug for once.
