"Life cannot be contained," says Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm in the new trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Deus T-Rex Machina is back in effect, and it's right in the trailer letting us know that basically anytime there's any danger, the T-Rex will be there to kill the threat. Speaking of it's in the trailer, they actually have Jeff Goldblum say, "Life finds a way," only without the trademark Goldblumian "ah" in between life and finds.

This trailer admittedly has a lot going for it. It looks suitably epic in scale and it doesn't seem—on the surface at least—to be another rehash of a film that's already been made. Director J.A. Bayona has also proven himself to be an engaging and visceral filmmaker, so I'm excited to see what he's gonna do with an essentially unlimited budget.

Now for the cons. I sincerely hope we didn't bring Jeff Goldblum back just to sit in some courtroom and regurgitate dialogue from his other turns as Ian Malcolm. That would be a big disappointment. Look at what he did with a flowing robe and some sparkly makeup in Thor: Ragnarok. Honestly, just let him go, don't write anything for him. Also, does anyone care about the romance between Star-Lord and Opie's daughter? I honestly can't bring myself to give a damn.

Probably the biggest reservation has to be that this will be coming out in the wake of Infinity War, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool 2, and The Incredibles 2. Will blockbuster fatigue have already set in by the time this thing comes out? We'll find out next June 22, but something tells me the answer is no. But I'd really hate to be Ant-Man and the Wasp coming out two weeks after this.
