Hot on the heels of his successful adaptation of Ready Player One for Warner Brothers, Steven Spielberg is eager to get back into business with the studio and direct a DC comic book movie. That's right, folks. Spielberg's doing a comic book movie, but not just any comic book movie. One he's actually been trying to bring to the big screen since the 80s, but you've probably never heard of it.

In a statement released by the director, Spielberg announces his fifth collaboration with screenwriter David Koepp to bring Quality Comics character "Blackhawk" to the big screen.  “It was wonderful working with the team at Warner Bros. to bring ‘Ready Player One’ to the screen. They bring a blend of passion and professionalism to everything they do and have a tremendous history in this genre. I am excited to reunite with them on ‘Blackhawk.'

I mean, as a comic book property for Steven Spielberg, Blackhawk makes perfect sense. It's about a crack team of WWII pilots, and that's Spielberg's bread and butter. He's like the foremost authority on WWII movies. He is to WWII what Ken Burns is to The Civil War, or Oliver Stone is to Vietnam. Spielberg could've easily directed the first Captain America film, which was instead directed by discount Spielberg himself, Joe Johnston. Now it remains to be seen how he gets Hanks involved.

Don't expect this one for a while, though. He's shooting Indiana Jones 5 next, followed by a West Side Story remake, so don't hold your breath.
