Whenever Martin Scorses isn't actively working on a project, there's always speculation about what he's going to do next.

Back in 2005 he was supposedly going to direct a Teddy Roosevelt biopic starring Leonardo DeCaprio. Then in 2009 it was a biopic about Frank Sinatra with rumors about DeCaprio, George Clooney, and Johnny Depp. And in 2010 it was a movie about a WWII vet who becomes a mafia hitman, which was supposed to reunite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci and pair them with Al Pacino.

What do all these films have in common? None of them ever happened, of course. So we should probably all take today's rumor—that Scorsese is interested in making a movie about The Ramones—with a grain of salt. After all, there's no script and no writer, and the damned rumor seems to have originated from legendary punk band's estate now that Tommy Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone and Joey Ramone have all passed away.

Still, Scorsese does have a history of working on music projects. He directed the "Bad" video for Michael Jackson, as well as documentaries about The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison. So is a Scorsese-directed Ramones flick possible? You bet.

Just don't hold your breath.
