Spike Lee’s Gotta Have Mark Teixeira’s Bat (VIDEO)

There is no bigger fan of sports in the Big Apple than the man behind such classic movies as Malcolm X, Jungle Fever, and Tales From the Hood. I'm talking about Spike Lee of course.

So if there was ever going to be someone that should catch a souvenir at a Yankees game it is him. Of course, being Spike Lee, it couldn't be just any souvenir. He caught Mark Teixeira's bat.

The Yankee slugger was swinging for the fences against Jered Weaver and the Los Angeles Angels Monday; he missed the ball and accidentally sent his bat flying for the fence instead.

Luckily, no one was hit with the flying lumber. You can see in the video that Spike is pretty excited at his unexpected treasure. Normally someone has to pay a pretty penny in order to get an authentic player's bat. Spike could swing it if he wanted to, but you can't fault the man for being excited over getting it for free.

However, while balls are kept by fans, bats have to be given back. Spike did 'do the right thing' and returned it, but I'm sure it didn't stop him from feeling 'mo' better blues' anyway.
