Browns Looking to Trade McCoy After All

The Cleveland Browns had been insisting that Colt McCoy would be able to compete for the starting QB  job along with 28-year old rookie Brandon Weeden, but it appears that may no longer be the case. According to an ESPN, report the team is looking to trade him, but will not be asking for much.

Huh? If that seems a little confusing, you are not alone. The explanation, while nice, makes little sense as well.

It seems that the team didn't want to just dump him following the draft. The Browns organization apparently felt bad for McCoy, especially after the "raw deal" he'd already been handed. As a mea culpa, they are supposedly ready to trade him, but will not be asking for much.

Hmmm...that gets me thinking. What exactlty are they talking about? Could it be that the team has had no real receiving threat for him to throw to since he was drafted in the third round in the 2010 Draft? Could it be that there has been no running game beyond what Peyton Hillis provided in '10?

So basically, is the raw deal they are referring to the fact that he got drafted by a crappy team? Or...

Could they be referring to the team screwing up last season and putting him back in the game after he had clearly suffered a concussion? With the emphasis that has been put on the damage that concussions can do the Browns made a pretty big mistake there (with potential legal repercussions in  light of the wave of concussion-related law suits facing the NFL).

Is it the "raw deal" or is this because the team owes him for risking his career (putting him back in that game with a concussion) so they are letting him go somewhere else to play while he is still young?

Only the Browns and Colt McCoy will ever know.

(Here's the hit that caused all the trouble)
