Xbox and Games With Gold Kick Off 2016 With… Well, The Usual

As my dear ol' Pa always says right about now, ‘It's all over now.' Bar the annual drinktastic drinkathon with booze that is New Year's, the holidays are just about done with. 2015 is, like, so last year. Whether that's a good or bad thing will depend on your Miserable Old Bastard Quotient.

Either way, all's heading back to normal. Back to work, back to sobriety (well, give or take) and back to our monthly free game offerings from Games with Gold and PS Plus. For January 2016, Xbox busted out the details first, so let's take a look at what's on offer.

First up is Killer Instinct: Season One, which will be available to download on Xbox One all through the month. This is the console-exclusive fighter complete with all of the first season's DLC (characters, costumes and such). It'll be joined on the system by Zheros, a Gauntlet-esque co-op beat-em-up, from January 16 to February 15.

Over 360 way, you can get yourself Deus Ex: Human Revolution (January 16- February 15), as well as some racing goodtimes with Dirt Showdown (January 1-15). A fairly good if unexciting crop to start the year with, all told.
