Selena Gomez is facing a wave of online backlash after being spotted vaping in a series of behind-the-scenes photos posted ahead of her recent dinner with longtime bestie Taylor Swift in New York City.

The candid snaps, which show the actress in a makeup chair blowing smoke and holding what appears to be a Juul vape, have stirred up a mix of concern and criticism across social media.

First of all, who is still smoking a Juul in 2025?! I thought those got phased out...

Fans were quick to point out that Gomez, who underwent a life-saving kidney transplant in 2017 due to lupus complications, has long been open about her health struggles. Many questioned whether vaping, or even drinking, which some claim she was also doing later that evening, is a wise choice given her medical history.

“She’s literally had a kidney transplant and still out here vaping??” one fan wrote, while others chimed in calling her behavior “irresponsible” and “ungrateful.”

Still, not everyone is rushing to judge. Some have defended Gomez, noting that she’s always been candid about her past with smoking and that vaping, while not ideal, may be part of her effort to cut back or quit altogether. “We don’t know her personal journey,” one user commented. “It’s easy to criticize, but addiction and stress are real.”

As of now, Selena hasn’t responded to the backlash, and with the internet as loud as ever, it remains to be seen whether she’ll address it publicly.

I personally think Selena should give up the vape and go the natural route with a good ol pack of Marlboros. Make smoking cool again!
