New Superman Shield

And last, but certainly not least, the new Superman shield insignia for Superman Returns has been revealed. Superhero Hype has the exclusive, large-size image which looks a little too curved-out for my tastes.

What I would like to know is why every element of a classic must be continually tweaked? The classic S-Shield is perfect. I never liked the S on Christopher Reeve's costume, and I sincerely hope that the costumed version in the new movie remains true to classic, comic-book style S.
