New Poster and Banner Released Offer First Look at ‘Pacific Rim’

Gear up for the epic battle between giant robots and giant monsters that will go down in Pacific Rim. An image from the movie has already been published by Entertainment Weekly, showing off Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi all suited up to take on their roles in the ravaging war.

Director Guillermo del Toro had a banner all prepped up and released specially for Comic Con 2012, which you can check out in the gallery above. You can also get a look at an awesome new banner for the movie, which debuted on the movie's official Facebook page.

A war began when legions of monstrous creatures, known as the Kaiju, started rising from the sea. To combat the Kaiju, massive robots, called Jaegers, were devised. On the verge of defeat, mankind has no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.

Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim opens in theaters on July 12th and stars Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Max Martini, Willem Dafoe, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr., Diego Klattenhoff, Ron Perlman alongside Hunnam and Kikuchi.

The movie's Comic Con panel is slated for Saturday, July 14th, at 2:30 in the afternoon.
