‘Mortal Kombat X’ Update Brings Another Dose of Brutality

The sadistic bastards at Mortal Kombat cannot and will not be stopped. Ever. Much like the guys who create the Itchy and Scratchy shorts in The Simpsons, their hunger is insatiable and their bloodlust boundless. It's a hard job devising grisly new ways for their tiny charges to be killed, but someone has to do it.

In one Itchy and Scratchy cartoon, the sawn-off and super pointy tip of the Space Needle pierces Scratchy's eyeball. At which ‘point' (see what I did there?), you'd probably thought you'd hit the pinnacle of famous-landmarks-to-the-face deaths. But there's always room for improvement.

In that same spirit, here comes Mortal Kombat X. Since its April release, fans have been crotch-deep in grim new fatalities and brutalities, some of which rank among the most gruesome the series has ever seen. Particularly with their spangly new HD makeover, which makes severed heads, 'nads and general entrails look ghastier than ever.

But there's no laurel-resting here. Developer Netherealm has just hit us with another update for the game, which adds another helping of brutalities. A couple stages have their own, such as this charming new finisher you can perform on the Quan Chi Fortress map:
