I am so thankful that celebrating birthdays is a thing in our culture. Aside from the occasional Jehovah’s Witness, women of all ages go apeshit on the day they were born. I don’t understand it, but I am thankful that it is a thing.

I gave up on my birthday years ago. With the number of people that have cursed the day I was born it seemed mildly disrespectful to act like it was a happy occasion. Even before that I did not understand birthdays. It does not make sense that we would be celebrating coming into this world; it seems like everyone I know hates life, aside from that one day a year. And it doesn’t make sense that they would celebrate still being alive, because as I already stated, they hate life.

But even if the occasion is a giant sham in order to be the center of attention, it still allows respectable women to slut it up for an evening guilt-free. And to me, that is beautiful. There is too much negativity in this world, it makes me feel less unique. I’m glad we have days like this to put those feelings by the wayside.
