Jennifer Lopez Goes Blonde For New Musical “Kiss Of The Spider Woman”!

Jennifer Lopez is stepping into the musical theater spotlight once again, whether we like it or not.

The first teaser trailer for Kiss of the Spider Woman just dropped, and while the internet seems to be eating it up, I’ll be honest, it only reminded me how much I hate musicals.

Still, even I can admit, J.Lo looks pretty good. Blonde, dramatic, and oozing old-school glamour, Lopez plays Aurora, a fictional silver screen diva conjured up by a daydreaming inmate in a South American prison.

The story follows the unlikely friendship between two cellmates Valentin, a political prisoner, and Molina, a gay window dresser who escapes the bleakness of prison life by retreating into movie fantasies starring Aurora. Lopez’s character appears in stylized musical numbers, floating in and out of reality like a fever dream.

The film is directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, Chicago, Beauty and the Beast), so yes, it’s going full Broadway-to-Hollywood. It also stars Diego Luna and Tonatiuh Elizarraraz and premiered at Sundance earlier this year, where Lopez reportedly got a standing ovation.

Deadline is already calling it “the role Jennifer Lopez was born to play” which is great for her, but I still ain't watching it.

The film hits theaters October 10, and until then, you can check out the teaser below.
