‘IT: Chapter Two’ Honest Trailer Proves the Scariest Thing About the Film is the Running Time

While many folks were surprised when this past fall's IT: Chapter Two wasn't anywhere near as good as the 2017 first chapter, anyone who had read the book or seen the previous adaptation of the novel knew that all the good shit was in the first half of the story. Couple this fact with an absolutely interminable 170 minute running time—just 22 minutes shorter than the entire 1990 adaptation—and you've got the makings of one of the most disappointing films of 2019.

Don't get me wrong, there were worse movies this past year, just perhaps none quite as disappointing as this one. The latest Honest Trailer from the good folks over at Screen Junkies covers these facts and more, like the mind-numbingly stupid way they bully Pennywise to death at the end or the absolutely distracting cgi de-aging they did on the kids from the first movie to make them look more like they did two years earlier.

Can we all just admit that 2019 was the year when it became official that cgi de-aging is the most distracting thing in any movie in which it's employed—Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Gemini Man, The Irishman, and Terminator: Dark Fate. The technology is simply not there yet and the more they attempt to get it right, the more off-putting it looks. Pump the brakes Hollywood, wait until the technology catches up to what you want to do.

IT: Chapter Two is available now on Digital HD and will be released on various disc formats this coming Tuesday.
