Ed Boon Is Considering A Horror Icon Mashup Fighting Game

It’s safe to say that Ed Boon knows a thing or two about the whole ultra-violent slashtastic thing. The father of Mortal Kombat has brought the world a couple decades of spine-rippin’, face-eatin,’ tendon-slicin’ good times. The team have been coming up with ever more ghastly-ass fatalities, and they seem to take just a little too much pleasure in doing so.

Boon and the boys have a pretty damn good grasp of horror movies too. The recent couple of Mortal Kombat instalments have featured cameos from Freddy, Jason and Leatherface (among others), just about the three most iconic horror characters there are.

All of this said, then, a fighting game with a full cast of horror legends, with Boon at the helm, would be all kinds of pretty damn sweet. While there’s nothing in the pipeline just now, that’s sure something he’s considering ‘one day.’

‘When asked about the possibility of using this trend of guest characters to throw them all together in one big horror icon showdown,’ Game Informer reports, ‘Boon was not dismissive of the idea. "Yes, yes! You know, as we've been accumulating them, that idea has been coming up more and more frequently," he says. "You brought it up and a few other people have brought it up like 'why don't you do a horror movie fighting game?' Maybe one day we'll do it."’

This was really just some vague talk at the Mortal Kombat X Pro League Finals in LA, but he seemed to like the idea. At some point in the future, we might see Chucky ripping off the Babadook’s scrote to FINISH HIM!
