‘Black Mass’ Looks Like One Badass Gangster Flick

Johnny Depp has been nominated for an Academy Award three times. 

Judging by the trailers for Black Mass, number four is on the way. 

Black Mass was directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) and tells the true(ish) story of Irish-American mob kingpin Whitey Bulger. I'm not going to tell you how the story ends. Go read about it on Wikipedia if you want to know. All I'm going to say here is that Bulger was a seriously bad dude, and Depp's portrayal may very well give you nightmares. 

Of course, Depp isn't the only Hollywood heavyweight in the picture. Black Mass has the kind of ensemble cast we've come to expect from gangster movies, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Joel Edgerton, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Scott, and Dakota Johnson. Don't be surprised if one or two or three of these fine actors snag supporting nominations from the Academy.

The trailer you see above is the latest, and it gives us the best idea yet of what the actual movie will be like. 

However, if you just want to see how terrifying Johnny Depp can be, I recommend the first trailer. It's...intense.
