MTV has the first interview with Brett Ratner since news emerged that he will be taking over as director of X-Men 3. Well, from everything he said, it doesn't look good. And he is definitely not filling me with confidence.
What is it, in particular, that makes me feel this way? Well, for one thing, he wants to add more humour to the film, which, in and of itself, is not a bad thing, but have you seen Rush Hour 2?
What's really worrisome, though, is the way he refers to himself in the third person. What is this, an episode of Seinfeld? Read the quote below and tell me you're not worried too.
"Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner are in that age range who grew up on comics," Ratner said, referring to himself in the third person. "Well, I don't know if he grew up on comic books, but in that generation where comic heroes are part of our society and part of our pop culture[...]
"Jackie Chan says Brett Ratner is the luckiest guy in the world," the director said of his "Rush Hour" star's opinion of him taking over the comic-book franchise, "and I feel like I am."
This just doesn't look good...
