Xbox Defies All The Odds With A Pretty Good Games With Gold Month

Here it is, Ego-gents. That magical time that happens but twelve times a year. Not appeasing-your-other-half-with-chocolate-and-compliments-about-how-small-her-ass-looks-lest-she-bites-your-face time (although that too, natch), we’re talking another monthly event: it’s Games with Gold-o-clock.

If we’re being pernickety, this is really the same event as PS Plus Games-amundo, but Xbox beat PlayStation to the punch with their August lineup reveal. We like to keep them separate anyway, to prevent any console wars getting blood and stray limbs all over your nice clean Egotastic.

So, anywho. On to our usual monthly ritual. I’ll hunker down, take my pants off* and let you know what’s coming to Xbox Gold subscribers this August. As ever, there are four games on offer, two each for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Starting back in the shit-stained streets of last-gen-ville, 360 offers retro-modern classic Spelunky, from August 1-15. From the 16th to the end of the month, you can also download yourself a slice of the criminally underrated Beyond Good and Evil HD. Which you really should, by the way, if you’re not familiar with it.

Down Xbox One way, you can get yourself a choice of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (throughout August) and WWE 2K16 (from August 16 to September 15).

There’s been a lot of mithering about the free offerings of late, but this is a pretty darn solid month whichever way you slice it. If you want to get in on any of this action, look out for the downloads starting to arrive from Monday.

  *I'm not kidding.
