Skyfall comes out in less than two months (that's 'ye olde two months' for our British readers) and there's been no official word on who will be singing the theme song yet. Madonna's theme notwithstanding, Pierce Brosnan's movies always had catchy theme numbers from a diverse group of artists whereas Daniel Craig's films have had some lackluster songs open the films (thanks for that Jack White/Alicia Keyes duet no one asked for, Quantum of Solace). And with all the buzz surrounding the new film, a really kick ass theme could make it one of the best Bond experiences in recent memory.
Despite no official word, rumor has it (see what I did there?) that British chanteuse Adele will be providing vocals after being seen entering Abbey Road studios where composer Thomas Newman is working on Skyfall's orchestral score.
I'm sure a Broccoli-sanctioned announcement will be released soon as the clock's ticking on the film's premiere, though there's always a chance her track won't even make it into the final film. Being asked to record a Bond theme is a badge of honor but even the biggest stars sometimes find their tunes replaced before final cut. Singers have been shuffled, whole songs have been scrapped all together. After fifty years of the franchise many of these unused songs have resurfaced from the Bond archives and here are a few of our favorites.
