Who knew Vin Diesel was such a tease?

First the guy went on Facebook and hinted that he was in talks to be in some big project with Marvel, and we were all like, Avengers 2? After that he went to Comic-Con in July and said there was going to be a BIG announcement from Marvel at the end of the month, and we were all like, whoa, this is going to be sweet! Then the announcement arrived, and we found out that Diesel was going to play...a f*cking tree.

I wish I was kidding, but it's true. The "big" announcement was that Vin Diesel was going to play a tree alien named Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, and we were all like, um, what?

Now Diesel is back at it again. He recently did an interview with Maria Menounos in which he explained that he actually was in talks with Marvel about something really, really big when they asked him to play Groot the tree alien. However, also explained that other original project is still a go, and in the process of doing so he revealed something pretty big:

When I met with Marvel it wasn't for anything immediate, it was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years...something so big I can't even talk about because it's like the merging of brands in a way, which I won't get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road.

Did you catch it? The part about 'the merging of brands'? Well, we can't be sure exactly what that means, but it's got comic geeks talking about some kind of a Spiderman/X-Men/Avengers crossover, which would be as insanely awesome as it would be legally tricky, given that different studios own the rights to those properties.

Of course, given Diesel's disappointing track record, he's probably just talking about a character from Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in Avengers 5 or something.
