UPDATE (1:25pm) - The deal could be in jeopardy over salary issues, ESPN sources are saying.

That was fast.

The Denver Broncos dealt QB Tim Tebow to the New York Jets today, just one day after officially making Peyton Manning their starter. The Broncos made no secret of their desire to move Tebow, but the Jets are a surprising trade partner. New York just signed Mark Sanchez to an extension with $20 million in guaranteed money.

What does this mean for Sanchez and the Jets?

The Jets were reportedly interested in Tebow to help bring some calm to their extremely dysfunctional locker room. As soon as the season ended, guys were throwing each other under the bus left and right and some anonymous players ripped Sanchez for being 'lazy and babied.' Relying on a backup QB for leadership probably won't be the best idea.

The Jets gave up a fourth and sixth round pick in exchange for a seventh round pick and Tebow, who could very possibly see a lot of action with the team. New York hired former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano as their offensive coordinator, and he had measurable success with the Wildcat formation with the Dolphins. Tebow is built for that style of attack.

The addition of Tebow could also address those unnamed griping Jets players complaints that Sanchez isn't pushed to work harder by a capable backup.

If Sanchez thinks his playing time might be cut down to utilize Tim's skill set, he might start honing his game.

It will be interesting to see if New York has any Tebow-maniacs like Denver, where fans bought billboards in the city to implore the team to start him.

It won't just be fans though; New York's notoriously tough sports media will start banging on Jets head coach Rex Ryan at the first sign that Sanchez isn't living up to his contract.
