You can't help but wonder what the world is going to be like once The Dark Knight Rises is finally upon us. I imagine that everyone on the planet will be brought together under a blanket of joy all because of how immense Christopher Nolan's creation is. Peace will fall upon war-torn regions and every countries debt will be wiped clear in an act of harmony.

If it stinks? The apocalypse will begin and Satan will inherit the earth.

Until then, all we have is a new piece of viral marketing and a synopsis that gives us a better idea of what Batman, Bane and friends will be getting up to.

The viral provides us with a glowing performance review from the Gotham Police Department for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake, which says that he is excelling in his role but needs to have a better relationship with his fellow officers. However when you consider that most of the GPD are crooks, he should probably steer well clear.

You can check it out below. The Dark Knight Rises will be with us on 20th July 2012.

The new synopsis tells us that

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.

But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The countdown is well and truly on.
