‘The Conjuring’ Spin-off ‘The Nun’ Gets a Creepy First Trailer (VIDEO)

James Wan's The Conjuring films have not only been jam-packed with terrifying imagery, they've also spawned two hugely successful spin-off films based on the doll Annabelle, with a third spin-off coming later this summer titled The Nun.

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

These flicks are an easy way to make money by spending very little. The Annabelle films featured some decent imagery, but were severely hampered by their restrictive budgets. Hopefully this flick finds a way to buck that trend and pack some production values in between all the jump scares. The Nun opens in theaters nationwide on September 7.
